Most of my 3D scanning experience is automotive related: engines, engine bays, trunks, and underbodies are very popular objects to get scanned. The scans are perfect to design new mounts, check fitment, or design proof of concepts. I have also taken body and face scans (whether that be for animation or cosplay).I am able to reverse engineer scans into usable .step files, although that takes more work and money. I have experience with CFD, general CAD design, and composites manufacturing. If you aren't sure whether or not your project falls within my scope, feel free to shoot me a message or email! Scanning Process
1. I drive over to your place with my scanner and laptop - I need an outlet to keep my laptop powered, and area to move around the object.
2. Using a handheld scanner, I walk around the object, holding it about 3 ft away, and try to capture it from as many angles as possible.
3. This initial scan creates the raw point cloud. I will usually do multiple scans, with different techniques, prioritizing different angles, and possibly different resolutions if you require more precise results.
4. The raw point clouds need to be processed into optimized point clouds - this renders much more points than the raw cloud.
5. The optimized point cloud needs to be further processed into a mesh - which for most people is the finished product. This is an STL file that is made of hundreds of thousands of faces depicting the scanned area. The more faces, the better detail, but the more difficult it is to use within CAD programs.6. However some clients meet the limitations of STL files. They do not carry inherent dimensions within them, and are approximations of the real thing made of a plethora of points and triangles, rather than curved lines and circles. In the case you want to extract more complex dimensions from the file, or want to manufacture a copy of the scanned piece, you will most likely need to reverse engineer the scan.

The reverse engineering process, depending on the precision you require, can be a very time intensive process. This adds cost to the project.
Prices
Every job I do has a final price set on site, depending on my assessment of it's difficulty and how far I need to drive. However, generally speaking, my prices range from 200-600 dollars for most projects. Sending pictures of what you need to get scanned will help me narrow it down.My purpose is to deliver a product that is useful for my client. Hey! My name is Gleb, and I am an Aerospace Engineering student at Rutgers University.I am passionate about engineering and solving problems, and love to get to know people and their projects. I grew up building RC airplanes, moved on to racing drones (check out burundukfpv on Instagram), and since attending university have been primarily focused on cars.This is a side business that I started after buying a 3D scanner to help my friend with making a new body-kit for his car, as I wanted to run fluid simulations on his current car and see exactly what can be improved.Since then, I decided that I might as well pay the scanner back and learn something along the way. I find this work really fun, as I meet interesting people, do useful work for them, and get to say I partook in a lot of cool projects.I've worked on personal engineering projects my entire life, and I recognize that sometimes you don't need the most expensive, premium solution to a problem. Sometimes you just need a tool to give you a simple answer to a simple question. Sometimes you only need a measurement that is "good enough", since you aren't measuring down to the microns when you're cutting a 2x4.My service will not give you micron-level precision, but if you're working on something out of your garage, and you're asking yourself "does this fit?" - I can help answer that question for a fraction of the price that a professional service will.
